The Grand Old Party of
the Republicans is in a bad state.
The party is seriously divided between
moderate (Republicans) and right wing (Tea Party). This division has led to
some nasty debate that in turn has acted to weaken the Republican majority.
The
far right is a bit looney. By embracing a political extreme, they cut
themselves off from mainstream voters.
The bigger problem is the absence of a
candidate who can move voters. The growing list of wannabes does not help as it
disperses election fund donations. At present, not one single candidate can
pass the acid test of being able to unseat O.
Most maddening of all, however,
is the fact that I am even talking about this. We already have election fever and
it is still a year and a half before the election. How about some electoral law
reform while we are at it?
